Briggs Orr Earns Division I Opportunity with Ferris State

Prosper Sports Group client Briggs Orr has committed to Ferris State University, where he will continue his hockey career at the NCAA Division I level.

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound defenseman from Denver, Colorado has developed into a hard-nosed, physical shutdown defenseman. Orr plays a simple, dependable game on the back end and has built his identity around competing hard and being difficult to play against.

Orr’s path to college hockey has included its share of challenges. He played 17 games in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen at just 16 years old, recording five points as a young defenseman. An injury later slowed his progress, but Orr continued working his way back and eventually established himself in the NAHL.

After stops with Minot, St. Cloud and Maine, Orr joined a strong Aberdeen Wings program during the 2024-25 season. He recorded nine points in 27 games after joining Aberdeen and returned the following season as an alternate captain.

This past season, Orr finished with 15 points and a +14 rating in 43 regular-season games. He added another four points in nine playoff games while continuing to provide the physical, defensive presence that has defined his game.
